As I write this, I'm sitting at a table in one of my favorite locally-owned coffee shops -- The Nook. If you've been to Hickory Tavern in Huntersville, you were just across the parking lot from it.

Looking for a place for lunch, I dropped by to try one of their sandwiches. Out of their large chalkboard, three words caught my eye: Cajun Roast Beef.

SOLD!

So, I plunked down my change for a sandwich, coke (and an impulse purchase of an orange Tootsie Pop) and waited for my meal.

Geez, it was good!

The roast beef on this cold (but slightly spicy) sandwich was tender and flavorful. The santwich was served on rye bread, with lettuce, white onion, provalone, and a delicious cajun mayonaise. Spicy, but not too spicy, with the crisp lettuce and onion to cool everything down.

Quick, delicious, and all under $10! Not a bad deal! (Kinda like this post!)

  1. I tried looking for the Nook on the internet and found several sites about it. You gave quite a good review and I am hoping you could give me a website to check it out.

  2. With all the items on the menu below $10 and a decent review coming from you, this restaurant makes it on the list of my prospect dining places.
