Click the jump for my detailed review and info about The Nook:

I've been awaing the opening of The Nook for a while.  Located in the Office Depot /  Hickory Tavern strip mall-ish complex diagonally across Hwy. 73 from Birkdale, it's in the same complex as my drycleaner.

So, for the past few months, when I make my (almost) weekly trips to the cleaners, I'd been checkng it out, waiting for it to open.  Finally, it opened!

The Nook is a little coffee shop, but it's already well known.  I'm here at 10:22 a.m. on a weekday, and this place is PACKED!  Almost every table is taken (sorry for taking the 4 seater in the middle!), and there is a line 4 deep at the register.

When I walked in, I waited in a short line and then made my order.  A medium caramel mocha (I'm sooo predictable), and a slice of crumb cake. I asked about the scrumptious pastries, scones and bagels, and I learned that they come from all sorts of different sources.  The bagels come from the Bagel Bin (they occasionally have salt bagels -- YAY!) and the rest come from assorted bakeries from the area.

The crumb cake's texture is remarkably light, and is bathed in the flavors of butter and cinnamon -- YUM!  And the caramel mocha is really good.  It has a nice balance between coffee, chocolate and caramel flavors. Not too sweet, which is easy to do with THAT much sugary goodness.

This inside of this place is very nice, my wife would love it.  Art and quotes are interspersed on the bluish - gray walls, the stained concrete loks like tile and there is a huge blackboard listing all of their food selections.  Sandwiches, soups and salads are all available for the choosing. In addition they have a kids menu.

I love coffee.  And I've been in mourning since the Coffeehouse at Denver went bust.  Fortunately this place is closer, and their lunch selections appear better.  I'll be coming back.
